England Locks In Capello Through 2012

The English FA isn't waiting to see how well Coach Fabio Capello does in South Africa. It has signed the Italian to a contract deal ensuring he stays until the 2012 European Championship. The agreement removes an escape clause that could have let the Italian leave after the World Cup in South Africa.

“I always wanted to stay until the end of my contract,” said Capello, who took over in 2008 after England failed to qualify for Euro 2008. “In South Africa, we are totally focused on the World Cup.”

"We’re very pleased to have Fabio’s commitment for another two years and it’s good that we have been able to resolve this before the team flies to South Africa,” Club England chairman Dave Richards said. “Now we can all concentrate on the World Cup and give Fabio and the players our full support."
