Expectations High Around United-Bayern Matchup

It would be hard to understate this 2-week period as the most critical of Manchester United's season. With an away loss at Bayern Munich last week in the UEFA Champions League coupled with an English Premier League defeat to Chelsea over the weekend, I don't know that there has been a single match that would determine United's season more so than tonight versus Bayern Munich.

Manchester United will need to win this second leg of the UEFA Champions League quarterfinals to advance into the 'final four' of Europe, and James Ducker of the Times gives a preview of the match ahead.

How do you expect United to approach the match?

JD: It is a very difficult one for Ferguson. He has so many qualities as a manager but occasionally he commits the odd tactical blunder and I think he got it wrong against Chelsea on Saturday. It is essential he gets his team right tonight, he can't afford to be too cautious because United need goals but at the same time conceding an away goal could be a massive setback.

I expect Ryan Giggs to play behind Dimitar Berbatov with Nani and Antonio Valencia out wide and Darren Fletcher in the centre of midfield. United will turn to the experience of Neville and Patrice Evra at the back alongside Rio Ferdinand and Nemanja Vidic.

United are at their best when they are at home, play attacking football with the crowd behind them and just go for it. They generally always score goals and they will need to tonight.
