Dempsey the hero in Fulham win

Congratulations to Clint Dempsey, who scored two superb goals in the first half to give Fulham a 2-0 win over Wigan for only its second win of the season (click on the link to see the highlights).

Dempsey scored on a header off a cross from Carlos Salcido in the 30th minute and added his second goal a minute before half time on a volley off a pass from Chris Baird.

The goals were the American's third and fourth of the EPL season. He now has 25 in three-plus seasons.

"We wanted to get more crosses in the box and the two goals that I scored were great crosses and without that I wouldn't have been in a position to score," Dempsey told Sky Sports. "It's always good to get the first one out of the way, another good ball in by Carlos — it's the second goal I've scored off a cross from him. So that was probably my best goal of the day, but the most important thing was that we got the three points and we are looking to replicate that performance in the future."
