Carlo Ancelotti has delivered a massive compliment in the direction of Martin O'Neill and his Aston Villa side, claiming the Premier League's third-placed team have the quality to break into the top three.
First it was Manchester City, and then Tottenham, who seemed set to disrupt the recent domination of the now-defunct Big Four, but Chelsea boss Ancelotti reckons Liverpool and even Arsenal better beware the threat Villa poses to the status quo.
Villa jumped into third place with victory over Sunderland on Tuesday night, but its Villa's ability to beat the big boys that Ancelotti believes makes O'Neill's men candidates to be more than merely the best of the rest.
"Aston Villa are a very dangerous team,'' said Ancelotti. "They won against Chelsea and Manchester United. I think Martin O'Neill is doing a fantastic job with this team. Maybe we have to pay attention to them because nobody spoke about Aston Villa in the top four but now we have to pay attention to this team. I think Arsenal have to pay attention to them.''
