As a life-long Manchester United supporter, I have never been fond of Tony 'Donkey' Adams at the heart of Arsenal's defense.
Saying that, he did a great job as Harry Redknapp's right-hand man at Portsmouth - I was actually at the FA Cup quarterfinal defeat of Manchester United at Old Trafford a couple of years ago.
After an unsuccessful stint at Redknapp's successor as manager at Portsmouth, Tony Banks of the Daily Express reports that there might be a move to make 'Donkey' Adams the next manager of the New York Red Bulls.
Tony Adams, sacked by Portsmouth in February after just 16 games in charge, is one of the candidates to become head coach of the inconsistent New York side, who have had 11 coaches in 14 years.
Former Arsenal hero Adams had an unhappy spell in charge of Wycombe before his stint at Portsmouth, but the Red Bulls, who made Norwegian Eric Soler sporting director this week, are keen for Adams to replace Juan Carlos Osario, who quit in August.
Sources close to Adams say he is also interested in a move which could revitalise his coaching career, and he is even thinking of trying to lure former Gunners team-mate Thierry Henry with him.
