Mick Lyon's name has been tied to the great teams and moments in Aces Soccer - both as a player, assistant coach, and as the first women's soccer coach here at UE. He has been a role model to many, as well as a close friend.
Mick was regarded not only for his ability to create and finish scoring chances, but for his tremendous will and ability to battle as the midfield general in the great Aces teams of the past.
Those same attributes that made him a special player is illustrated in this article by Graham Hays of ESPN.com, who writes about Mick, his wife Elizabeth, and their continued fight with Multiple Sclerosis.
“Unfortunately for me, because I want to win all the time, I want to find a way to beat it. And I can't sometimes accept that we can't beat it. I always want to be better than it. I want to be better than what the disease is and beat it because I always want to win everything. ” -- Mick Lyon
