Soccer America reports that Liverpool has signed 17-year-old midfielder Marc Pelosi, who represented the USA at the 2011 Under-17 World Cup in Mexico, to its academy program.
Pelosi, who played for De Anza Force in the Bay Area, had a verbal commitment to attend UCLA. He got around the work permit requirements because he holds a German passport. His mother is German.
He is the first player from the U.S. Under-17 World Cup team to turn pro since the tournament.
